Merve Kaya Okursoy
The artist, born in Izmir in 1994, completed her middle and high school education in Izmir. She pursued her art education at Dumlupınar University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department, from 2013 to 2017, and in 2021, she completed her master's degree at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Art and Design, at Eskişehir Osmangazi University.
THE SYNERGY SERIES
Throughout her work, the artist focuses on the alienation developing in the modern individual and societal consciousness, characterized by industrial dynamics. They identify their observations on these findings with the image of the "desert" in her own artistic expression. The desolate atmosphere of the abstract landscape depictions, which the artist creates as triptychs, emphasizes the process of alienation developing in the societal consciousness of the "era". The modern-looking figures frequently seen in her recent works represent the tendency of the modern individual to maintain/live their spiritual, psychological, and intellectual processes in isolation within themselves.
