Ceyda Kartal
I was born in 1987, in Izmit. Through the quest of striking my balance in the pandemic days in 2020, I started to steer my focus towards punch needle embroidery. Based on the curiosity and interest in weaving and embroidery as a youngster, originating from the know-how conveyed by the women in the family; in this period, tutorial videos drove me to evolve independently in these fields by reflecting various techniques and materials on my works.
The experimental power of embroidery on the creation process, allowing the use of various techniques, combined with the passion of creating an abstract world with my hands, turned me towards the art of weaving. Inspired by the chaos that arises from concentrating on multiple ideas simultaneously, as well as the fiction induced by the natural flow; I continue to project my images through complex aesthetic combinations, and create textile art with a focus on modern embroidery and weaving in Istanbul.
